  • An open-fit AI hearing aid designed for those unable or unwilling to wear in-ear devices

SHERIDAN, Wyo., Sept. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Hearing loss affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide, yet many existing hearing solutions remain designed around a single assumption: that users can comfortably wear devices inside the ear canal. Flysound, an AI hearing aid company, recently announced the U.S. launch of the B02 Open-Fit AI Hearing Aid, combining an open-ear design with advanced AI acoustic technology to make hearing support more accessible. Before its U.S. launch, the company’s open‑fit hearing aid completed a record‑breaking crowdfunding campaign in Japan, raising more than US$3 million.

Rethinking Hearing Aids Beyond the Ear Canal

“For decades, hearing aids have been designed around the ear canal,” said Jory Peng, founder of Flysound. “At least 15% to 20% of people with hearing loss cannot wear in-ear hearing aids due to medical or anatomical conditions. Many others struggle with issues such as ear blockage, a plugged-ear sensation, moisture buildup, or discomfort during long hours of wear. We developed B02 to make hearing support more accessible and comfortable for these users.”

Featuring an open-fit, ear-clip design, B02 helps address common drawbacks of traditional in-ear devices. With hearing aids often worn for more than ten hours a day, comfort is essential to long-term adoption and everyday use.

Solving the Biggest Challenge of Open-Fit Hearing

While an open-fit design improves comfort, it also introduces a major engineering challenge. With less physical separation between the microphone and receiver, amplified sound can be picked up and re-amplified, causing feedback whistling. The higher the gain, the harder it is to control.

Flysound addresses this challenge through its proprietary AI acoustic architecture. Powered by a 12nm AI chip, B02 continuously detects and suppresses sound patterns that may trigger feedback, enabling feedback control at gains of up to 50 dB. A customized high-output dynamic driver and optimized ear-tip design further balance amplification performance, wearing stability, and sound leakage control.

To improve listening clarity in everyday environments, B02 combines AI-powered low-frequency noise reduction, impulse noise suppression, wind-noise reduction, and real-time feedback cancellation. An additional AI-powered noise-reduction algorithm keeps the device’s internal noise below 10 dB for a more natural listening experience.

As Flysound’s flagship innovation, B02 combines high-gain amplification with effective feedback control, addressing a long-standing gap in the hearing care market.

Bringing Professional Fitting Into the Home

Beyond hardware innovation, Flysound aims to simplify the hearing-aid fitting process. Through the Flysound App, users can complete a pure-tone hearing test at home and receive personalized settings based on their results. For those seeking additional support, professional hearing-care specialists are available for optional one-on-one remote fitting and fine-tuning across the critical 125 Hz to 7,500 Hz range used for speech recognition.

With 16 adjustable channels, B02 enables more precise frequency control, delivering up to 50 dB full-on gain and 117 dB SPL maximum output.

Designed for Everyday Convenience

Additional features include a dual anti-loss solution combining a screw-secured retention cord with outdoor location tracking through the app, an IP55 water-resistance rating supported by nano-coating technology, up to 12 hours of use on a single charge and more than 60 hours with the charging case, plus Bluetooth calling, music streaming, and short-form video audio while maintaining awareness of surrounding sounds.
